Learn to Skate Classes

Toddler Crawl: For the toddler aged child 12 mo – 24 mo. Toddler Crawl is a play-based class to teach kids that the ice is a fun, silly and slippery place! Participants do not wear ice skates, but walk/crawl on the ice in boots, snowpants, helmet and gloves.

Baby Blades: For the older toddler, ages 2 – 3 years. Baby Blades is a longer play-based class, where skaters will wear skates for the first time! It’s a BIG DAY when they stand up by themselves for the first time!!

Snowplow Sam: For pre-school aged children, 3-5, the Snowplow Sam levels are designed to help the pre-school aged skater develop preliminary coordination and strength and maneuver on the ice.

Basic 1-6 Levels: For Ages 6 -12, the Basic Skills levels are the fundamentals of the sport of figure skating and introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns.

Free Skate Levels: For ages 6 and up, The Free Skate levels are designed for advanced skaters, who have already passed all of the introductory “Basic 8” levels. Skaters are already getting used to spinning and jumping.

Teen and Adult Levels: For ages 13 and UP!! the Teen and Adult levels are the fundamentals of the sport of figure skating and introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns.

*If there are questions about a skater’s proper level, please contact Skating Coordinator Kathy Janik to set up an evaluation time on the ice.
